In First Rodeo, photographer Nigel Malone climbs between chutes and stock pens to enter the inner sanctum of rodeo aspirants. Comprising twenty-six shot-on-film, black and white portraits, First Rodeo captures part gladiator, part entertainer in their final moment of focus before competition, often staring through the lens as if it were not there.
