UNE TamTalks: World Dinosaur Day

1 June @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm AEST

This World Dinosaur Day, join us for a fascinating journey through one of the most extraordinary chapters in Earth’s history — the Mesozoic Era

Spanning from approximately 252 to 66 million years ago, the Mesozoic is bookended by two of the most famous mass extinction events in our planet’s history.

It was an age of remarkable creatures — from ancient amphibians emerging in the aftermath of global catastrophe, to sharks ruling the oceans, to the mighty dinosaurs that have captured our imaginations ever since. In this special TamTalk, researchers from the University of New England will guide you on a journey through the Mesozoic, bringing millions of years of evolution to life.

You’ll hear from UNE Associate Professor in Palaeobiology, Dr Nicolas Campione, PhD Student Emil Herbert and MsC Candidate Blake Forrest.

Discover what UNE’s own palaeontology lab is uncovering about ancient amphibians, prehistoric sharks, and Late Cretaceous ecosystems from Canada to Mongolia — and learn what these discoveries tell us about life, extinction, and survival on our planet.

Whether you’re a lifelong fossil enthusiast or simply curious about the ancient world, this is a rare opportunity to hear directly from the researchers uncovering these stories, right here in Tamworth.
