What to do on a winter's day

If you find yourself on a cold winter’s day and unsure what you can do, here are 5 things to do indoors this season!

Capitol Theatre and Tamworth Town Hall

Take your mind away to a place of amazement with a show at the Capitol Theatre or the Tamworth Town Hall!

From captivating plays to mesmerizing musicals let these productions and live shows take you to another world from the comfort of your chair.

Both venues are conveniently located in the Tamworth CBD, with the theatre sitting in almost the same position as the original theatre did many years ago.

To see what events are happening at the hall and theatre this month, visit the Destination Tamworth What’s On page.

Your Local Art Gallery

Explore the artistry on display at your local gallery! These creative hubs showcase everchanging and impressive collections, bringing you fresh designs for a new experience each time you visit!

If you are in Tamworth, immerse yourself at the collections on display at the Weswal Gallery or Tamworth Regional Gallery

You can find anything from traditional, modern to contemporary pieces on display.  Plus, each gallery has its own store for you to pick up a nice gift, or a little something for yourself!

Tamworth Powerstation Museum

Alright, alright, the Tamworth Powerstation Museum might be semi-outdoors, but you can delve into Tamworth’s history with multiple collections featuring a total of over 9000 objects of historical, cultural and social significance.

We mean it when we say you won’t find this anywhere else – this is Australia’s only dedicated electrical museum.  Plus, not to brag, but here is where you’ll find two John Fowler steam driven engines (replicas of what powered the original street lighting system) and the only two of their type operating in the world!

The museum is open Wednesday- Saturday 9am -1pm.

Nundle Woollen Mill

Are you wearing your winter woollies, or do you need to buy some more?

Warm yourself up with a guided tour at the Nundle Woollen Mill. As one of the last spinning mills still operating in Australia, you can witness the age-old craftsmanship of turning merino wool into yarn.

Take a look in their store whilst you are there to keep you snug during the winter season.

Country Music Wax Museum

Get up close and personal with some icons of the Australian Country Music Industry at the Wax Museum

Established 40 years ago, the museum moved to its new location in 1988 and was opened by Country Music legend Slim Dusty.

Grab your camera out for a  selfie with some of the figures including Smoky Dawson,  Chad Morgan, Beccy and Cole plenty of others!

Whilst you are here, visit the National Guitar Museum, featuring an instrumental photographic section by Chuck Bradbery.

Whilst here, why not stop in for a nice hot drink or coffee at the Golden Guitar Cafe.

Embrace the indoors this winter and explore something new!
