Tamworth Historical Society March Meeting: The Great Tamworth Flood of 1910

18 March @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm AEDT

Free

Tamworth’s most disastrous flood was the Great Tamworth Flood of 1910. Join Historian Rod Hobbs for a presentation on the worst flood in Tamworth’s history. This 1910 flood was prior to the construction of Tamworth’s levee banks, and inspired the redirection of the Peel River at the bottom of Darling Street.

Everyone is invited to attend this presentation at 7pm on Wednesday 18th March at Calala Cottage Museum, 142 Denison Street, West Tamworth. This free event will be followed by a light supper. All welcome!

This photo, taken from the Post Office Tower, shows the extent of the 1910 flood along Peel Street, looking towards Brisbane Street. The raised railway line can be seen just below the horizon.
