The current exhibition at Weswal Gallery features landscapes from our region. In November 2025, a group of artists and their teachers from Willoughby Art Centre undertook a residency at Goonoo Goonoo Station, immersing themselves in the landscapes of the Tamworth region. Working on site, they responded to shifting light, colour and texture through sketches and plein air studies that capture the immediacy of place.
This exhibition brings together those works with paintings later developed in the studio, where memory and reference materials shaped a more reflective response. Drawing inspiration from GG and the Moonbi Lookout, the exhibition also features a video documenting the residency, offering insight into the artists’ shared experience and creative exchange.
