Join us for the conclusion of the Overhead and Underneath Exhibition and join exhibiting artist Rita Lazauskas for an in-depth discussion of her artistic practice and her experience working as a curator in public galleries, developing and presenting public programs, workshops and guided tours.
With a practical focus in drawing and painting, Lazauskas’ practice is primarily based on observational drawing, documenting her travels and objects on hand within the home. A bevy of old toys and junk, including some iconic symbols of Western Culture and other familiar popular culture characters, which quickly become a metaphor for the human condition throughout her work.
“My arts practice focusses on the medium of drawing, while exploring various manifestations of visual narrative and responding to my place and experience. Drawing leads to new techniques, ideas and visual language. It assists with critical thinking. The drawing process is, in itself, investigative. An exploration of the word reveals this nature.”
Living between Beechworth, Australia and Marrakech, Morocco, join Rita Lazauskas for the concluding event to a wonderful exhibition.
