Head to The Somerton Hotel this long-weekend Saturday for a hearty slice of country fun. Keen cooks can enter the Camp Oven Cook-Off for free—just BYO oven and ingredients—and have their meals ready for judging by 5:30 pm, with cash prizes of $250, $150, $100 and a $50 People’s Choice up for grabs. From 6 pm the public can tuck into the winning dishes for just $10 a plate, while live music keeps the atmosphere buzzing and the pub kitchen serves lunch earlier in the day. The afternoon kicks off at 1 pm with an open-class Dog High Jump (entry $5; prizes $250, $150 and a bag of dog food) plus a good-old billy-boiling contest.
