Off-road options
Adventuring on dirt tracks is a fun way to test and improve your skills, or simply have a good time. The Tamworth Mountain Bike (MTB) Park is more than what it seems and if you don’t want to drive to the park, it is accessible via a shared pedestrian pathway – so you can ride straight there! Once you arrive, you can set up at the facilities for the day with sheltered tables, a toilet block, a children’s playground and a pump track – perfect for kiddies!
The kids track has 3 different loops, but is fun for the big kids too! Of course, if you are here to do some serious riding, you won’t be disappointed with multiple trails to choose from, all ranging from very easy to difficult in skill level.
In the search for more serious MTB trails, don’t go past Mount Borah, near Manilla. Enjoy the challenging downhill descents over a few kilometres, surrounded by beautiful bushland.
You’ll need to speak with Andrew from Tamworth local cycling shop, The Broken Spoke or flick a message to the Mount Borah Mountain Bikers to get access to this gem, as it is on private property – but hey, it is worth the effort for any serious MTB rider!
For the BMX lovers, the Tamworth BMX track is located just out of the Tamworth City Centre and had remediation works completed in 2023.
The upgraded track has reserved the much-loved whirlpool and bridge and features a polymer racing surface with asphalt turns and a timing system.
At 350m long, the track includes four turns and five straights and the best part is that it has all been designed to cater for riders of all levels from the juniors through to elite level riders.
