DESCRIPTION:The Courthouse Hotel\, Tamworth is embracing the chill this July and inviting locals and travellers to experience the magic of winter in the New England North West. \nFrom Friday 4 to Monday 28 July\, The Courthouse – owned by hospitality investment manager and operator Harvest Hotels – will transform the upper level of its outdoor beer garden into an ice-skating rink\, launching the pub’s first ever winter wonderland themed event. \nCoinciding with the school holidays and Tamworth’s Hats Off to Country festival\, this month-long celebration offers fun for all ages\, combining ice skating adventures\, movies under the stars\, dedicated parties\, live music\, winter-inspired food and drinks\, and festive vibes to light up the cooler season. \n  \nIt has been designed and aimed to offer locals a fun activity\, while also giving visitors – whether they’re in Tamworth for a day of jobs or looking for a school holidays trip – a reason to rally family and friends\, visit the Tamworth region\, or extend their stay. \nWinter Wonderland Line Up: \nIce Skating Rink\nOpen daily from 11am – 8pm\, the rink will accommodate up to 15 skaters per 30-minute session. Tickets are $10 per person and can be booked via The Courthouse website. Skates included BYO socks. \nFree Kids’ Face Painting – Saturday 5 July\nKick off the Winter Wonderland festivities with free\, winter-themed face painting for kids. \nFamily-Friendly Outdoor Movie Nights – Every Wednesday\nBring a blanket and pull up a beanbag every Wednesday evening at 6pm for a free movie screening of winter-themed family classics\, under the stars. Popcorn and drinks available for purchase. \nViper Creek Band for Hats Off To Country – Saturday 12 July\nAs part of Tamworth’s Hats Off to Country music festival\, The Courthouse will welcome Viper Creek Band to the Winter Wonderland stage for a night of great live country music. \nWinter Retro Party – Saturday 19 July \nDon’t miss the opportunity to rug up in your best retro ski inspired attire and party the night away with your mates as if you were on the slops. Students will learn how to develop their own characters\, create their own stories\, learn the fundamentals of stop motion animation\, and most importantly\, discover that the only skill you really need for animation is patience. \nThis session runs on both Tuesdays of the holidays. The workshop will focus on the various techniques and skills in world of illustration. This workshop will utilise high quality materials and a range of mark making tools. Lanterns with Emma Stilts\nThursday 10 July\n \nIn this workshop students will get an introduction to Lantern Making and learn about the history and cultural significance of lanterns from around the world.  Students will explore a range of materials including: paper\, natural fibres\, bamboo/cane frames\, and various recycled\, organic\, and decorative materials to create original shapes and forms. \n  \nStudents will be inspired by a range of lantern design ideas and themes. Each student will take their own unique prints from the workshop.\n10.30am-2pm\, inc. short break.\nBYO lunch. \nWorkshop suitable for kids aged 6 – 16 years of age. \nLimit of 15 participants \nCost $30 \nBOOK HERE \n  \nFlip book with Emily Redman\nThursday 17 July\n \nJoin local artist and art educator Emily Redman as we take a step back in time and look at the origins of animation\, inspired by the exhibition ‘Two Girls from Amoonguna’. \nParticipants will spend time within the Gallery Space\, guided through the exhibition by Emily before entering the studio space to design and construct their own ‘flipbook’\, a type of animation that uses a series of static images to create the illusion of movement. \nDrawing on a range of subject matter\, participants will create their own artist book\, a practice employed by many professional artists. Participants will also learn the basics of relief printing in order to design the front cover of their books. Employing various professional printmaking tools\, inks and equipment\, participants will experience the satisfaction of completing a body of work – whilst also developing the skills to continue the creative process in their own time. \n  \n10.30am-2pm\, inc. short break.\nBYO lunch. \nWorkshop suitable for kids aged 6 – 16 years of age. \nLimit of 15 participants \nCost $30 \nBOOK HERE \n
